Description
The subject property comprises an irregular shaped plot of generally level topography.
The plot forms part of a wider area which forms a mainly rectangular overall site. Plot 1
which extends to approximately 0.82 Acres (0.33 Hectares) is currently grassed over part
bounded by a timber post and wire fence. The plot runs parallel to the B9013 road. An
overhead electric line runs along the westmost boundary of the site.
Location
The subject site is located at Charlestown which lies between the village of Roseisle,
(formerly known as College of Roseisle after a monk’s college) and Burghead, a harbour
town mainly built on a peninsula that projects northwest ward into the Moray Firth
surrounded by water on three sides. The subject site sits to the east of St Anethans Road
(B9013) which links directly to the main A96 trunk road leading to Elgin some 7.5 miles to
the southeast.
Elgin lies circa 66 miles northwest of Aberdeen and 39 miles southeast of Inverness. It is
the main administrative, business and service centre within the Moray Council area. The
town is accessed by the A96 trunk road which runs between Aberdeen and Inverness.
The site is within a scenic rural area with neighbouring residential properties to the north
and south. The vicinity supports a number of attractions including pinewood forests
offering interesting trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. There are popular sandy
beaches at both Burghead and Roseisle where remnants of of Britain’s defences from
the Second World War can be found.
